Ronald Koeman's first job in charge of Everton will be to try and persuade John Stones and Romelu Lukaku to stay.
The Dutchman could quite possibly be unveiled as the Toffees new boss early this week after it was revealed that Southampton had come to an agreement over a compensation fee believed to be around £5million.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that if Koeman does take the job at Goodison Park, he will be tasked with keeping young defender Stones and promising striker Lukaku on Merseyside.
Stones, 22, continues to be linked with both Manchester City and Manchester United as well as Chelsea and Barcelona, while 23-year-old Lukaku is still on the radar of his former club Chelsea with PSG and Bayern Munich other clubs to be credited with an interest.
Koeman did a wonderful job on the south coast with the Saints and if he does happen to leave St Mary's, it may be one of his most important tasks in keeping the talented duo around as he strives to haul Everton up the table following the departure of Roberto Martinez.
