Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo will be free to join senior pre-season after England U19s failed to qualify for this summer's European Championships.

Mainoo featured for England during the international break, playing in all three of their qualifiers including 88 minutes in a 2-0 win over Turkey on Tuesday evening. Still 17, Mainoo made his debut for United in the Carabao Cup win over Charlton in January.

He was expected to be committed to England over the summer and the 2023 European Championships in Malta. But their failure to top their group - they finished one point behind Iceland - means they won't be involved in the eight-team finals.

Instead, Mainoo will be available for United's trip to the United States for pre-season.
