Knighton ecstatic over Sir Jim Ratcliffe interest in buying Man Utd

Michael Knighton has reacted with joy over news that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is interested in buying Manchester United.

Ratcliffe, Britain's richest man, has released a statement through his spokesman that he is open to buying United from the Glazers.

Knighton had claimed that he and a consortium were coming together to try and purchase the club.

Knighton wrote on Twitter: "Sir Jim Ratcliffe - yes, yes, yes, yes this is wonderful news.

"I said from day one that the Glazers will be gone this time and the great JR is the man to it and it's happened.

"Thank you to every fan that believed this message, your support has been magnificent. Bravo."

Ratcliffe's spokesperson told The Times: "If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer," they told.

"If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership. This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent.
