Michael Knighton has confirmed he's 'chasing' Sir Jim Ratcliffe to help take over Manchester United.
The businessman is trying to put together a consortium that can buy the club from the Glazer family.
United fans are desperate for the club to change ownership, due to the neglect from the Glazers and the hundreds of millions of debt they have placed onto the club as a result of their leveraged buyout.
"The reason I've been chasing the likes of Jim Ratcliffe is because he does have the resources, he is a Manchester lad originally, he claims to be a Man United fan, and I believe he is," Knighton said when talking to The United Stand.
"If I can smoke Jim Ratcliffe out and bring him to Old Trafford, my job is done.
"I want the likes of Jim Ratcliffe to join the consortium. There are people that are a lot wealthier than myself. I certainly don't have the funds to buy Manchester United.
"We need to be taken seriously as a whole fan group because, really, this is a fan bid and I've been working my backside off, putting people together to make a hostile bid and say, 'look, here's the money', which of course they are going to refuse.
"But if we can say we have got worldwide fanbase support, we've got a chance."
