And a smiling Klopp said: “Yeah, that's not too cool for a manager! It worked, then it's cool.
“I had a few centre-halves who were able to do things that a centre-half should not do, Mats Hummels constantly doing things where we thought it made no sense but it ended up being really good.
“Alisson is a goalkeeper who can obviously play football. He is confident enough to do it. It's all okay.
“He didn't do it to show off. He did it to sort the situation.
“The boys are getting more and more confidence and obviously he has a nice level of confidence."
Alisson impressed in a more orthodox manner late on with a good save to keep out a header from Brighton substitute Pascal Gross.
And Klopp added: “I liked the save from the header more than the chip, but the chip was the right thing to do in that situation.
“Was there criticism in England over Alisson's fee? I thought spending big (was the thing).
“I couldn't be less interested in that, by the way. We did it because we were convinced. We didn't make the price."
