Jurgen Klopp made the first move in the decision to open new contract talks with Liverpool.
Klopp approached owners FSG about signing a new deal, says the Mirror.
Much has been made of the German's Anfield future in recent months, with the Liverpool boss indicating on more than one occasion his plan to exit the club upon the expiration of his current contract in 2024.
This situation has now developed at a rapid rate, with Klopp understood to have committed his future until 2026 courtesy of a new contract.
It was Klopp who approached FSG to suggest he would be open to accepting a new contract. The report adds that he believes with the bigger, better squad he has created with a frightening amount of depth that rivals even Manchester City's immense breadth of talent, the current crop can 'play on well into their 30s'.
