Kitson targets Portsmouth move to kick-start his career

Dave Kitson is confident his Portsmouth transfer can reignite his career at Fratton Park. Kitson has signed a three-year contract with Pompey in a deal which also saw his Stoke team-mate Liam Lawrence move to the south coast with Marc Wilson heading in the other direction.

The 30-year-old was a prolific goalscorer in the Championship but has since endured a difficult two years at the Britannia Stadium.

He said: "I just want to play football again. You go to some places where it doesn't work and have to cut your losses and move on.

"The deal has been floating about in the media for a week or two, so I was just standing by the phone.

"I'm happy to be at such a fantastic club. I'm excited to be here and it's a fresh start."
