Former De Graafschap and FC Utrecht coach Simon Kistemaker can't see Ajax defender Perr Schuurs developing into an elite player.

Schurrs has been linked with Liverpool ahead of the January market.

But Kistemaker disagrees with Ajax coach Erik ten Hag's claims that Schuurs is destined for the top.

He told De Telegraaf: “Erik may be a bit more thoughtful than I am, but he is just a great person. We really don't always agree. He knows how I think about certain players.

“For example, I think Perr Schuurs is too weak, while he is convinced that he can make a top player of him.

"Too often he is still played around his legs on the back line. That just cannot be. In my time, that attacker would lose his kneecap. Schuurs is not a real one, like Matthijs de Ligt."
