Joe Kinnear is emerging as the likely manager of Newcastle United for their Championship campaign.

The Daily Mail says if Toon owner Mike Ashley cannot meet Alan Shearer transfer market demands, the Geordie icon will walk.

And even though it would provoke another backlash from Newcastle fans, Ashley might turn once more to Kinnear.

Kinnear would be placed in control of the Championship club while Keith Harris tries to sell it for Ashley.
