Tottenham defender Ledley King admits they were struggling before the arrival of manager Harry Redknapp.

He told the Spurs website: "It was very difficult and not a nice place to be in. Questions kept arising after every game and we were finding ourselves under more and more pressure as the weeks went by.

"We realised that, with only two points, we were quite some distance off getting out of the relegation zone.

"There was no escaping. Nine games into the season and there was talk about relegation - that's not a position Spurs should be in."
