Keeper Warner returns from Phoenix stint to train with Crewe

League One Crewe boss Steve Davis has confirmed Tony Warner is training with the club but that there are no plans to sign the experienced stopper. The 38 year old recently returned to England from a spell in Australia's A-League with Wellington Phoenix and is searching for a new club.

"He knows the situation that we haven't got anything for him here, but he's quite happy to come down and keep himself fit until he finds a club," Davis explained.

"Obviously he's a keeper with vast experience and that can only rub off on Ben Garratt and those sort of keepers, and it will help Alan (Martin) as well.

"He's 38 years of age, fit, strong and big. He's got great experience and, for anyone who's looking for a goalkeeper, I'd certainly recommend him. He's a nice lad, he's good to have around the place and very enthusiastic. We're just helping him out."
