Karim Benzema enjoys 2 Real Madrid records after CWC success

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has moved himself up in the club's record books.

Benzema scored in the Club World Cup final against Kashima Antlers and has earned his place on the list of historic Real Madrid goal scorers.

The Frenchman is now the ninth highest goal scorer, having scored 171 goals. This is the same number that Emilio Butragueño scored between 1984 and 1995.

The next player up on the list is Pirri, who is the eight highest goal scorer for the club, with one goal more (172).

Benzema also reached another milestone in the game against the Japanese side. The forward played his 337th game, equalling Santamaría's number of appearances between 1957 and 1966, and he is now the fifth-highest foreign appearance maker for Real Madrid. Benzema sits behind Roberto Carlos (527 games), Di Stéfano (396), Marcelo (380) and Cristiano Ronaldo (367) on the list.
