Kane at the double as Tottenham dent Leicester top-four chances

Tottenham Hotspur have moved closer to securing a place in next season's Europa League with a 3-0 win over Leicester City.

The loss was a huge blow for Leicester City's campaign to qualify for the Champions League as Chelsea and Manchester United can push ahead of them if they win their games in hand.

Spurs got off to an early lead when Son Heung-min's strike deflected off James Justin for an own goal.

Of course, it was that man Harry Kane who then steered his side to victory with a brilliant first-half double, his second brace in as many games.

The Foxes did have chances but they were denied by the excellent Hugo Lloris.

Jose Mourinho's side now move up to sixth, two points clear of Wolves, but the Midlands outfit do have a game in hand.

Leicester will be keeping a keen eye on the midweek matches with Chelsea playing Liverpool at Anfield and United at home against West Ham.

Brendan Rodgers and his team are currently in fourth-placed, ahead of United on goal difference and one point behind the Blues.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho said: "I think we were strategically good. We knew what worked for us.

"Brendan Rodgers did an amazing job since he arrived but in this moment he is in a little bit of trouble with injuries. I know what it is because I had similar problems at the other end.

"He is trying to compensate with the people he lost so we knew that in transition we could win the game. We tried to be very fast after recovering the ball. We did that very well in the first half and in the second half it was about being compact and getting the result.

"You always need your goalkeeper to make a couple of important saves which he did but we were phenomenal. They had a lot of corners and we defended well. I felt very comfortable in the game."
