Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo was happy with his double for victory over Sampdoria.

He scored a brace in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sampdoria, including a penalty, allowing Juve to reach a record 53 points at the midway stage of the season.

“The team is doing very well, we had an excellent first half to the season, but must keep working to ensure we keep this kind of form in the second half of the season," Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia.

VAR was used several times, including to disallow a last-gasp Riccardo Saponara equaliser.

“I like VAR, because these are difficult decisions for a referee and we should welcome anything that makes his job easier."
