Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero has jumped to the defence of underfire Inter Milan striker Adriano.

"I don't understand what problems he has had, but I hope that he overcomes them," Del Piero stressed.

"He has exceptional talent and he needs to exploit it. Adriano needs to become Adriano again and do so quickly and to do so he needs to find the right motivation from inside."
