Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon admits he's proud to be part of Italy's Confederations Cup squad in South Africa.

There is news that Nelson Mandela should be in the stands for the opening match of the tournament between South Africa and Iraq.

Buffon said: "He is a man who made history, changed a country and his influence went beyond the borders of South Africa. His message changed our society and the way we see things.

"It is wonderful seeing what this tournament represents for a country that until 20 years ago was suffering under Apartheid. It means there is a future for everyone."
