Juventus great Gigi Buffon feels Angel di Maria will surprise people in Italy.

The former PSG winger has penned a one-year deal with Juve.

Parma goalkeeper Buffon said, “He has always been a bit in the shadow and honestly I have never understood why, he has nothing to envy from anyone, football follows logics that are not always understandable.

“We are talking about an absolute top player, yet capable of sacrificing himself for his teammates, in my team he would always play.

“It's a great coup, and moreover for free. I have the feeling that in Italy he is not fully respected, but they will quickly realise his value."
