Juventus consider De Ligt sale to fund new Ronaldo contract

Juventus could spark a summer scramble with the potential transfer-listing of Matthijs de Ligt.

The Holland international is in his second season with Juve and viewed as a potential successor for captain Giorgio Chiellini.

Sky Italia's Tancredi Palmeri reports De Ligt could be cashed in to help fund an extra 12 month extension for Cristiano Ronaldo's contract. Ronaldo currently has a deal to 2022 and has told Juve he'd like to extend it another year.

Should the board agree to Ronaldo's request, it will mean Juve will have to sell a frontliner to help fund his deal.

And a prime candidate to be put up for sale will be De Ligt.
