Juventus coach Sarri hails Chelsea players DNA; Prem fans

Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri says he's a better trainer for his time in England.

Sarri had just one season in charge of Chelsea, but won the Europa League and guided the club to Champions League qualification.

While he didn't always see eye-to-eye with Chelsea fans, Sarri admits he treasured his time in the Premier League and his relationship with the supporters.

He told Sky Italia: "I think the experience in the Premier League has made me grow a lot. An extraordinary championship, for technical qualities, but also for mentality.

"In a year in England, they never greeted us with insults in an opposing stadium. These stadiums, filled with children, are something I carry with me and I would like to see them again in Italy."

Indeed for Sarri, it's not just the fans and stadiums which left a lasting impression, but also the attitude of the English players. The Italian concedes he was amazed by the fighting spirit shown by the average Premier League footballer, no matter the physical and mental demands.

He continued: "They have this particular character: I see them eating at two and at half past two they are already working on the field at a hellish pace. And then you wonder how they will ever do it: they probably have it in their DNA, something that belongs to the history of a people.

"They have been used to the battle for centuries to send attackers back to the sea and they play accordingly. We have always been a little more clever, a little more tactical and we do the same in our own way."

Now in charge of Juve, Sarri is enjoying Serie A's winter break with his team level on points with Inter Milan at the top of the table. However, the Bianconeri did break up for the recess with defeat to Lazio in the Supercoppa.
