Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero has paid tribute to departing teammate David Trezeguet.
The Frenchman has signed for Hercules Alicante, having scored 138 goals in 245 games for the Bianconeri.
"It's the time to say goodbye," wrote Del Piero on his official website blog.
"I have lost count of the seasons we played together and the goals we scored. We're certainly the most prolific pair in the history of Juventus, more so than John Charles and Omar Sivori - two immense champions - and you know full well how proud that makes us both.
"How many line-ups in these years have ended with the phrase: 'Del Piero and Trezeguet. Trezeguet and Del Piero.'
"How many victories, how many disappointments (thankfully nowhere near as many as the reasons for celebration), how many hugs. There's no other teammate with whom I have played more often. An average of 17 goals per season, just like your shirt number. That's all we need to explain what a great hitman you are.
"But for me, having played alongside you, there is no need for numbers. I consider it an honour being your partner on the field, playing with one of the best strikers in the world. Now we will take different paths, which happens in football. I'll say my goodbyes in the locker room, but it also pleases me to say it publicly: Good luck on your new adventure.
"We have many great memories to share together, the next time we meet up."
