Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon has been rated the best goalkeeper in history. The International Federation of Football History and Statistics' latest study of goalkeepers has revealed that Buffon rated higher than former Manchester United star Peter Schmeichel, Spain's Iker Casillas, Germany's Oliver Kahn and Paraguay's Jose Luis Chilavert.

The IFFHS uses statistical data to analyse and classify footballers and clubs.
