Departing Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran admits Antoine Griezmann's departure has surprised him.

The France attacker announced earlier this month that he would be leaving this summer.

And Juanfran said: "I did not expect Griezmann to leave, he told me a few hours before he told the club, nobody expected it but then I understood him and wished him the best.

"Griezmann told us an hour before last year's documentary that he was staying, just an hour before."

He added: "If Griezmann went to Barça it would be difficult to overcome that attack with Messi-Griezmann-Suárez, it's the trident dreamed up by any coach."
