Jose Luis Mendilibar is happy to take charge of Sevilla.

The veteran coach was named Sevilla coach yesterday after the dismissal of Jorge Sampaoli.

Sevilla are sitting just outside the dropzone and Mendilibar said at today's media conference: “I am delighted to be at a great club and proud that they chose me. I don't know how many coaches there are who weren't training, eager to do so and even more so if Sevilla calls you. I don't think there are that many who say no.

“We have signed until the end of the season and we will see how we end up. We can end up with good results but if for whatever reason we don't get along, why are we going to continue? If we get along well and we are happy it will be easy to reach an agreement to continue together.

“The objective is to go game by game. There are ten days before the match against Cádiz and right now the goal is to win there.

"We have to go game by game without going crazy and from there compete as best as possible, run, fight and show that you are better than the rival to try to beat them."
