Lille defender Jose Fonte is backing Ruben Dias for success with Manchester City.

Benfica announced yesterday the sale of the stopper to City, with Nicolas Otamendi to move in the opposite direction.

Former Southampton captain Fonte said of his Portugal teammate: "They get a really good player.

"I have no doubt he is ready for the Premier League. He has played at the highest level the last three seasons."

Fonte added on talkSPORT: "He starts every match for Portugal and always wants to get better. Manchester City need him and I'm sure he's excited to show his qualities."
