Jorginho proud of Chelsea effort against Liverpool: We are growing as a team

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho was delighted with his team's effort in securing a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

The Blues were arguably the better side in the first 30 minutes of the game, having gone a goal up through Kai Havertz.

However, a red card for Reece James for handball and Mohamed Salah equalizing from the penalty spot changed the game.

Chelsea spent the rest of the contest defending for their lives, and hung on for a point.

"It was very tough out there," said the midfielder to the club website.

"When you are a man down at 1-1 for over 45 minutes and with the atmosphere at Liverpool, it is very hard not to concede. It's a big challenge and we did it, so it was a big team effort.

"We are proud of what we did because we showed that we know that we can suffer sometimes and we can fight. It was nice to see everyone fighting and running and helping each other as a team properly, so I think the draw was fair and we can be happy with it.

"We knew from coming here last time that is so hard. We had to fight together because we are a really big group, so we need to fight together and suffer together and it is what we did.

He added: "We are growing as a team because we believe in what we do.

"We just need to grow game by game and then we see what will happen.

"The focus now is to be humble, stay hungry for wins and to keep working hard and never drop our levels. When you drop even a little bit that is the problem.

"We need to keep fighting and working hard as a team. In the end we will see where that takes us."
