Jordan Pickford has signed a new four-year deal with Sunderland.
The Evening Chronicle says Washington-born Pickford is regarded by Sunderland as 'one for the future' and is gradually being given the chance to prove himself in the lower divisions.
He has spent loan spells with Conference outfits Darlington and Alfreton Town in recent seasons before moving into the Football League last term with a temporary stay at League Two Burton Albion and then in League One with Carlisle United.
