Phil Jones believes Manchester United are in the Premier League title race up to their eyeballs.
The Red Devils returned to the top of the table after beating Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday after neighbours Manchester City relinquished first position with a 4-1 defeat at Tottenham.
Having won five of their opening seven league fixtures, defender Jones believes Louis van Gaal has at his disposal a squad capable of landing the 2015/16 English top tier title.
"We have a great squad, loads of talented players. There is no reason why we can't win the league," Jones said as United look ahead to Champions League action in midweek.
"But I think that is a step too far at the moment in terms of short goals.
"We are concentrating on the Wolfsburg game on Wednesday night now and making sure we get a positive result."
