Roy Keane has been backed by Vinnie Jones to become the next Newcastle manager.

The role was vacated on Sunday when Toon announced Rafa Benitez's departure at the end of the month.

Keane left his role as assistant at Nottingham Forest last week, and former Wimbeldon and Chelsea midfielder Jones believes the Irishman can succeed at St. James' Park.

He said: "Coincidence Roy Keane leaves Notts Forest same time? Could do worse

"I wouldn't put it past Mike Ashley to do it for the crack."
