Johnson admits to weird feeling as Stoke narrowly beaten by old boys Liverpool

Stoke City defender Glen Johnson admits it was weird making his debut for the Potters against his former club Liverpool.

The 30-year-old right-back signed a two-year deal with Stoke in the summer after he was released by the Reds and featured in his new club's 1-0 opening weekend defeat at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday.

"I've got a lot of friends there and spent many years there with most of those players so of course it is weird seeing them so close to you but on the day you're fighting against them," he said.

"You're obviously a professional but last night when you're thinking about it and you're mates [at Liverpool] are texting you it is a bit odd but it's football, it's what we do, and when the whistle goes you've just got to get on with it."
