Joel Matip is determined to stay and fight for his future at Liverpool.

The German defender has fallen to fourth-choice centre-half at Liverpool this season as manager Jurgen Klopp goes with Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren as alternative partners for Virgil van Dijk.

Matip has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga next month.

However, Merseyside sources insist the defender is expected to stay beyond January, even if there are no guarantees coming from Klopp.
