Jockey Lanzini backed by West Ham boss Bilic

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has backed Manuel Lanzini to shine for the Hammers despite his jockey-like stature.

The 21-year-old, who arrived on loan from UAE club Al-Jazira earlier this summer, scored a goal and provided an assist in the 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

"When Lanzini came in, some people were not for him and wanted other players; they were slagging him off and said he looks more like a jockey than a footballer," said Bilic said of the Argentine player, who was making his full Hammers debut against Liverpool.

"Maybe, but he rides the challenges. He's not afraid. In that respect he reminds me of Luka Modric."
