The Holland wing-back is on-loan at St James' Park this season from Eintracht Frankfurt.
He told Eindhovens Dagblad of the Premier League: "The other teams also all have four or five top players and that has to do with the budgets and high TV money that all teams receive.
“This makes the competition more balanced and that is only good for football. The fact that I am now playing well is a combination of things. The environment feels very pleasant and I thrive on the incentives that you get here as a player. I always had the dream to play in England and now that has become reality."
