Jay Turner-Cooke pens new deal with Newcastle

Jay Turner-Cooke has penned a new deal with Newcastle United.

Turner-Cooke has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who joined United's Academy from Sunderland in January 2021, made his first-team debut during the Magpies' 5-0 win against Al Hilal in Riyadh in December 2022 before featuring for Eddie Howe's side during a 2-1 friendly win against La Liga side Rayo Vallecano at St. James' Park.

The promising youngster, who hails from South Shields, recently joined Tranmere Rovers on loan for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign as he targets a professional debut for the League Two side.

Turner-Cooke told nufc.co.uk: "I'm absolutely buzzing. Ever since I came here, I've loved it and I feel I have went from strength to strength. This is the next step in my career to, hopefully, big things with Newcastle.

"All I ever wanted was to stay at Newcastle and thankfully, I've been able to extend my contract. Now, it's time to push on towards that next step.

"I can't wait to go out on loan. I think it will do me the world of good, playing first-team football and I think that's what I've needed. I've played with the under-21s for the last two seasons so I can't wait for the next challenge."
