Newcastle United fullback Daryl Janmaat is proud of his first season in England.

The former Feyenoord defender moved to Newcastle last summer and was named the club's Player of the Year.

"It is wonderful to be so appreciated by the public," said Janmaat.< p> "I'm happy that we stayed up.

"It's great for the city, the fans, the club and the players. I am now having just a few days off and then I'm going to recharge my batteries for the matches with the Dutch national team."
