Jamaal Lascelles pledges commitment to Newcastle

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has pledged his commitment to St James' Park.

Lascelles admits Newcastle have been winning ugly this season, but after just one victory in nine games since Boxing Day, says they are ready to win a “fight" with Burnley on Saturday.

He said: “Would I like to make it 200 or 300 appearances next? Yes, exactly that.

"I have seen players over the years move around but the ones that catch the eye are players who stay for a long time rather than skipping around teams, moving or going out on loan.

“It is best to build a relationship with fans and the city and I would prefer to do it that way.

“I have been here for five years and got a family a little lad, another on the way, and a house here. We are really settled. I am captain. That is an honour and I couldn't ask for anything else.

“I am over the moon with making 100 Premier League appearances. I am looking forward to having many more."
