Jack Rodwell released by Sheffield Utd

Former England international Jack Rodwell has been released by Sheffield United following a disaster spell at the club.

The 30-year-old played just TWO games in 18 months at Bramall Lane. His outings saw him on the field for a combined 73 minutes.

Now, following their relegation from the Premier League, he is one of four players leaving the club. Rodwell was once seen as the next big thing in English football, representing Everton and Manchester City. But his career has been ravaged by injury concerns.

It was hoped his arrival at Bramall Lane could kick-start his career but former Blades' boss Chris Wilder was unable to get Rodwell fit enough.
