Italian economist Carlo Cottarelli details Interspac launch

Italian economist Carlo Cottarelli is launching a project to help fans buy into Inter Milan.

Cottarelli is driving the Interspac group.

“We want to develop a fan shareholding project," Cottarelli said.

“We want to strengthen Inter with capitals integrated by institutional investor resources. It already happens in other glorious clubs such as Bayern Munich. We want to work closely with Inter ownership, which has been informed about our project.

“Our only desire is to help the club, we are grateful to President Zhang for bringing Inter back to the top.

“The first step will be a symbolic one. By the end of June, a group of famous Inter fans will enter Interspace srl. Athletes, actors, musicians, TV hosts will help us to make the project known.

“Then we'll launch a survey. We have instructed IQUII and its Sport Intelligence Unit to conduct an in-depth study of this issue. We will publish a survey on social media to understand what Inter fans think about popular shareholding.

“If, as we think, there will be enough interest from all the parties involved, we'll request the necessary authorizations to the competent bodies to collect the resources from fans and other people interested. This will require several months, even if the timing will depend on the technical details of the operation.

“This model could be valid for other Serie A clubs as well. We'll organize a public meeting in Milan at the end of September, inviting Interspac shareholders and prominent Italian and international football personalities. At that point, we'll be ready to start."
