IT JUST AIN’T HAPPENING: Villa defender Baker experiences red card nightmare for Bristol

A week after featuring in this column, Nathan Baker was unfortunately back in the firing line for Bristol City.

The 24-year-old defender, on loan from Aston Villa, was hooked at half-time of the Robins' 3-0 loss to Rotherham United last week after the Millers had netted twice in the first half.

It didn't get any better for Baker on the weekend as he was sent off in the 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers after picking up two yellow cards.

The first came in the 16th minute for a scything tackle on Jordan Rhodes before he was given his marching order four minutes into the second half for bringing down Leicester City loanee Tom Lawrence.

And it could have been even worse for Baker who was lucky not to have been sent off just after the half-hour mark.

It has been a less than desirable fortnight for Baker who will be intent on redeeming himself when he returns to action on Tuesday, December 15 at Derby County after he serves his one-match ban against Huddersfield Town this weekend.
