IT JUST AIN’T HAPPENING: Chelsea youngster Chalobah getting comfortable on Napoli bench

Nathaniel Chalobah's loan spell with Napoli has not quite gone to plan at this early stage.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined the Italian club on a season-long deal at the beginning of September but has featured just once for Maurizio Sarri, playing five minutes in the Europa League against Legia Warsaw.

Chalobah, who can also operate as a defender, had the chance to return to Reading where he had impressed in the second half of last term with 20 appearances - all of which were starts - but opted to head abroad for a new experience.

Sarri has sat Chalobah on the bench in four of Napoli's seven Serie A fixtures and although the Partenopei are sitting sixth in Italy's top flight, the England U21 star could be getting regular game time with the Royals who are sitting pretty in third spot in England's second tier.

As mentioned, it has not quite gone to plan for Chalobah in Naples but hopefully he is given an opportunity sooner than later so he can show the potential he began to fulfil while on loan with the likes of Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Reading over the past few years.

The way the Blues are playing at the moment, Chalobah could almost be getting a game for Mourinho as well.
