Manchester United legend Roy Keane has praised Hull City midfielder David Meyler for keeping his head after being clobbered by Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland assistant manager insisted Meyler had been right not to lash out.
"He did exactly what you would expect him to do," said Keane of the player who is now on international duty with the Republic. "He did the right thing. He's a [County] Cork lad so he doesn't go down easily."
Asked whether he would have reacted in the same way, Keane smiled as he replied: "I'm not sure I would have got involved in anything like that."
