Asian champions Iraq held hosts South Africa to a draw in their Confederations Cup clash in Johannesburg. The visitors were pushed to the limit by team Bafana Bafana but managed to hold on for share of the spoils.
South Africa were in control for much of the match but were unable to score and left Ellis Park disappointed as midfielder Steven Pienaar pointed out.
"We are definitely disappointed because we expected a lot from this game," the Everton man said.
"If you can get three points in the opening game, it normally takes a lot of pressure off a team.
"Now we have our backs against the wall. But we just have to stay focused and there's still two games. So we'll have to give everything then."
South Africa are up against New Zealand on Wednesday whilst Iraq have the unenviable task of trying to negate Spain.
