Iran coach Carlos Queiroz paid tribute to his players after their World Cup defeat to the USA.
The 1-0 loss saw Iran eliminated from the tournament.
Queiroz said: "For unity and explanations, the players returned to their roots and realised who their friends are and who they play for. They gave a good response on the field and honored the country's shirt.
"The Iranian players have made a lot of sacrifices and a tremendous effort. They don't have the same working conditions that the others usually have for reasons they know better than I do.
"Sometimes they can't even buy boots. But when I work all the days and I see a dedication and commitment to grow, to be great and to show the world of football and the passion of Iran, I feel very proud."
