Bristol City are hoping to finalise a move for Ipswich striker Jonathan Stead by Monday. Stead, who joined Town from Sheffield United two years ago, featured in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, but appears poised for a move to the West Country.
"He's someone we've been looking to sign for a while and it looks like we are close now," City boss Keith Millen told City's official website.
"We hope to conclude a deal early next week."
Ipswich boss Roy Keane also confirmed in his post-match interview that the 27 year old could link up with City on Monday.
