Ipswich boss McCarthy thrilled for Bournemouth new boy Mings

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has spoken of his excitement for Bournemouth signing Tyrone Mings.

Mings joined Bournemouth in a club-record £8million recently and big things are expected of the defender in the Premier League this season.

Mings' former manager at Ipswich, McCarthy, is also excited at the move and has stated that the young man is capable of replicating the exploits of former Tractor Boys star Aaron Cresswell who starred for West Ham United in his debut season in England's top flight.

McCarthy said: "We have done well out of it in terms of the money that will help us rebuild. We took two great players in Brett Pitman and Ryan Fraser who will give us a stronger squad.

"It is brilliant. I think it is great for him and having spent next to nothing on him, to get the money we did was a remarkable deal for a Championship left-back.

"If he does as well as Aaron Cresswell did – he won every player of the year award going at West Ham – it will be great for him as well and I think Bournemouth have got a good deal."
