Inverness Caley striker Niculae won't give up on Romania

The 26-year-old striker was ignored for the friendly defeat to Israel, but has declared: "All is not lost."

"Only the manager can decide who is in the squad and who is not. I will try to do my best for Inverness and I hope in the future I can be in the squad. I do not feel the chance is gone, but all I can do is play well for my team and try to keep scoring."

The former Sporting Lisbon ace won the last of his 28 caps in 2006, but recently received positive noises from international boss Daniel Piturca. "If I get the call-up to the national team it would be great. The manager has already said all the Romanian players active in Europe are still in his plans and only he can decide who will make it to Euro 2008."

"There is still time for me to make it into t he squad. It will be very tough as we have a lot of good forwards playing in Europe but if I score more goals then you never know what can happen."
