Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez happy to snap drought with goal in Benevento win

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez was happy to score in their 4-0 rout of Benevento.

Lautaro ended a six match drought with the goal.

“It was a tough game in the first half, we benefited from an own goal, but then we controlled it well and scored the goals in the second half that we wasted before the break! We got them eventually," he told DAZN.

“It's just like me, I don't score the easier goals and I score one that was almost by accident! Anyway, I'm happy when Inter win and we have to keep going like this.

“I am a striker, it's my job to score goals, but I've always said that I am here to work for the team. That is where I must improve, it's what got me here and I want to keep doing better for Inter."

The Argentina international is reportedly very close to signing a new contract with Inter.

“I am very happy here, my agents are working with me, the club and coach have faith in me, so everything off the pitch can be resolved."
