Inter Milan seek cut-price deal for Everton midfielder Pienaar

Inter Milan boss Rafa Benitez is chasing Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar for the January market.

The Mirror says Pienaar, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and Everton are resigned to losing him on a Bosman-style free transfer.

South African midfielder Pienaar has snubbed a new contract and that leaves Everton facing a dilemma over whether to sell in January.

It has opened the door for ex-Liverpool boss Benitez to try and land Pienaar which would ensure he remains unpopular on the blue half of Merseyside.

Tottenham are also keen with manager Harry Redknapp a big fan and he would be interested, having missed out last summer.

Everton know they are in a difficult position and Inter may appeal to Pienaar for a January switch to the reigning European champions.

Everton boss David Moyes rates Pienaar in the £10m class but knows that if they sell in January they can only expect way below half that figure.
