Inter Milan midfielder Ricky Alvarez admits he was surprised by his call-up to the Argentina squad.
Alvarez earned his selection as a late replacement for the injured Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.
"It's been a surprise this call," he said. "I'll make the most of this opportunity, it's not nice to replace an injured companion, but I must not fail. I have to give everything for the national team of my country."
On Inter, Alvarez added: "It's a period of bad results, we cannot get the wins. But we are slowly improving, we are on the rise, now we'll try to find a real identity in our play."
