Inter Milan legend Marco Materazzi is disappointed with Italy's latest betting scandal.

Materazzi has blasted those who took part in the betting scandal as "pathetic, as they are either stupid or sick," but hasn't got much hope for Euro 2012.

The investigation is continuing into alleged match-fixing under the influence of a betting ring.

"Anyone who sells a game is pathetic. They are either stupid or sick, but more than anything else I pity them," said the former Inter defender.

"How could they do that knowing there are so many fans who follow football with passion, even travelling to away games?"
