Inter Milan GM Beppe Marotta admits he's unsure how they will handle this season.
The campaign faces a midseason break for the World Cup and a rash of early games.
“It is a unique and completely different Serie A season we've never seen before, as by November 13 we'll have 15 rounds played, along with the Champions League matches," Marotta told Radio 1 RAI.
“Everyone has to take this into account and a large squad becomes more necessary than ever, because the compression of games could have a knock-on effect of muscular injuries."
The Serie A season will be four weeks in before the market shuts.
Marotta also said: “This too is a situation that will have to be dealt with. Some agents will certainly complain, but we as directors must try to keep everything as calm as possible, preventing some even tense exchanges between players and agents."
